Health insurance


a) To acquire health insurance citizens of the European Union should bring with them a proof of social security: EU card or form E 111.


b) Citizens of Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro should present the following forms with the application for residence permit:

form HR/SLO 3 or some other commercial health insurance
form RM/SI 3 or some other commercial health insurance
form BIH/SI 3 or some other commercial health insurance
form SRB/SI 3 or some other commercial health insurance
form MNE/SI 3 or some other commercial health insurance


c)  For citizens of the other states (Kosovo, Albania, Israel, Japan, China, Russia, …) the elementary health insurance will be covered by the Ministry. You will recieve Letter for Health Insurance with wich you have to visit the Agency for Health Insurance in the first week of your stay in Slovenia:

  • in Ljubljana: Mala ulica 3, find Mrs. Simona Perme
  • in Maribor: Sodna ulica 15, room 313, Mrs. Podjavoršek
  • in Koper: Martinčev trg 2, Mrs. Knez or Mrs. Potočnjak

IMPORTANT: Citizens of these other countries also have to acquire a commercial health insurance for Slovenia or EU for the time, from the submission for the temporary residence permit till the actual date of your arrival which must be enclosed with papers for the residence permit you give to the embassy. Upon arrival to Slovenia students then visit the Agency of Health insurance. Only after their arrival, the health insurance is covered by the Ministry.
